The Task Force on Immunological Methods for Fertility Regulation first met in 1973 with the aim of developing immunological methods of contraception further. The WHO Expanded Programme of Research, Development, and Research Training in Human Reproduction was set up in 1971 and itself set up a number of interdisciplinary task forces consisting of scientists and clinicians to collaborate on specific, research-oriented goals.
